My comments on the Book Hinduism by Swami Gurudasananda
Just now i completed reading the book written by Swami Gurudasananda It is indeed very lucid and simple especially for a lot of 'confused Hindus" His systematic approach is excellent His explanation of Dualism, Qualified Dualism and Non-Dualism is very much appealing. I am not the body explanation opens our eyes to our inner soul and prepares for the inward journey.I strongly recommend not only Hindus but also others belonging to various religious denominations to read Swami's book on Hinduism. But i disgree with the Swami when he politicises Hinduism when mentions about so called "Hindutava" and "saffron Terror" etc., Terrorism of all hues need total condemnation. killing inniocents is againest our ancient ethos. We should recall the famous saying " Ahimsa Paramo Dharmaha". Whoever indulges in wanton killing must be brought to book. the second point of my dissention with the Swami is about the conversions that have and are taking place in our country. I condem the conversions unequivocally. But one must dvelve deeper into this menace of conversions. One hardly finds the upper caste or upper class people taking to conversions. It is the downtrodden and the oppressed masses of this country who are tripped into conversion by inducements etc., The so called custodians of Hinduism or Sanathana Dharma are equally to be blamed for this state of affairs if not more. The way in which the Dalits and the backward classes have been ostracised both socially, economically, culturally and educationally for centuries has led to these conversions. These poverty stricken people want to lead a decent life with dignity. This remoinds me of the mass conversions of the land less and bonded labourers of Bengal in the early part of the 18th century into Islam. This eventually led to the formation of a Muslim majority East Bengal. It is my sincere request to Swami gurudasanandaji to delete the page referring to conversions and terrorism in his Great book as it does not go well with "Hinduism"
